Rachel Billiot Klaus - Piano Instructor
Mrs. Klaus holds a Bachelor of Arts
degree in Music from Nicholls State University, and a Master of Music degree in Piano Performance from the University
of Southern Mississippi. She has been teaching piano since the age of 16 and has taught at SoLa since 2004. Mrs. Klaus
also serves as SoLa's Development Associate.
Aimee Boudreaux - Piano Instructor
Ms.
Boudreaux has been teaching piano at SoLa since August of 2006. She is a graduate of Nicholls State University where
she was awarded a Bachelors degree in Music. She was a member of the Nicholls Concert Band and the Nicholls Marching
Band. Aside from piano, she also plays the clarinet. She has taken courses in Piano Instruction, Music Theory
and Piano Pedagogy.
Emily Chancey - Voice Instructor
Mrs.
Chancey has taught voice lessons since July of 2004. She has studied vocal music at Nicholls State Universtiy and was
a member of Chamber Choir and Concert Choir. Mrs. Chancey has taken courses in Music Theory, Diction, and Private Instruction
for eight years. She was also the conductor for the Children's Choir and song leader at Sacred Heart Church.
Pat Hornsby Crochet - Theatre Instructor
Recently retired from
the Terrebonne Parish School District after almost thirty years of teaching, Mrs. Crochet holds a Masters degree in theatre
from Flordia State University and an undergraduate degree in Speech and English Education from Nicholls State University.
Mrs. Crochet taught students who were identified as talented in theatre, and has directed over sixty plays in different venues
including community theatre in Houma, Thibodaux, educational theatre and youth theatre. A member of the Le Petit Theatre
de Terrebonne Board of Directors, Mrs. Crochet regularly directs plays and occasionally acts in the productions of that group.
Jessica Durocher - Visual Art Instructor
Ms. Durocher is a recent graduate of Nicholls State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Fine Arts. With
a concentration in ceramics, her work centers on abstract sculpture and wall installations. She has also focused
on photography, drawing, and art education throughout her curriculum. During Ms. Durocher's time at Nicholls, she
volunteered for many events both on and off campus and acted as President of the Ceramics Club from 2005-2008. She is
also excited to be a new member of the Houma Regional Arts Council team.
Michael Klaus - Guitar/Bass Instructor
Michael is currently pursuing
a Bachelor of Arts drgree in Vocal Music at Nicholls State University where he has taken Music Theory, Voice Lessons and studied
Double Bass. He has been playing guitar and electric bass for eight years and has been teaching for three years.
He has played with numerous bands and ensembles including the Nicholls State Blue Bayou Big Band.
Clay Melvin - Acoustic/Electric Guitar
Clay Melvin is an instructor
in both acoustic and electric guitar. As he has been playing the guitar for nearly ten years, he has spent over seven of those
years performing with various groups of various musical styles. With this background, Clay takes a more stylistic approach
to teaching guitar, looking to draw out creativity from the student as they discover themselves through the music that they
enjoy.
Becky Plaisance - Violin/Viola/Cello Instructor
Ms. Plaisance studied
violin in the Lafourche Parish Schools Strings Program from 1971 to 1977. She has played with the New Orleans Community
Orchestra and is a violin section leader in the South Louisiana Community Orchestra. She has taught violin for over
eleven years and has been a teacher at SoLa for seven years!
